Today we woke up to Mr. Ely’s rock music. It was our team’s turn to set up and clean up the meals, so we cleaned up after breakfast. Afterwards, we got ready and learned our sites for the day. Our team went to the Gate City Thrift Shop and helped move two counters and organized clothes. We left to eat lunch at a playground and played cards. When we got back, Reid and Scotty moved and organized boxes. Drew and Ms. Goode went through donations. Maggie and Alice organized racks of clothes and color coded them. After we finished at our site, we got milkshakes and ice cream at a local ice cream store. When we got back, the other teams had organized a cornhole tournament. Maggie and Alice lost their first match to Izzy and Olivia because they went over 21 and had to go back to 11. Drew and Ms. Goode beat Zach and Ms. Ting with a landslide win. We took a break to eat a dinner of tacos in a bag. After dinner and cleaning up, Reid and Scotty beat Catherine and Isabella to advance on to their next game against Max and Ian. After a stressful and lengthy game, the Orange Team pulled out a win. (Orange Team is currently in the lead with 3 wins in the tournament.) After we cleaned up cornhole for the night, we headed inside and ate a dessert of brownies. After dessert, we learned our final team challenge of the day: Minute to Win It. We all went up for different things; Alice blew up a balloon to blow cups off the table. Maggie balanced hollow, dry spaghetti on a long pasta noodle, which was held in her mouth. Drew had to move a cup from the bottom to the top of a big stack one at a time. Reid had to organize different colors of cereal. And finally, Scotty had to get ping pong balls out of a tissue box tied to the back of his waist. We then came together as a team to put a puzzle together. Although we didn’t win, we are ready and excited to earn more points!
