After staying up a “little” late last night, we woke up to Hakuna Matata at 7:15. We went to eat breakfast with many different choices for food. After breakfast we got ready for the day, and learned a little about what the Dungannon Community Center does for Dungannon. We were told where we were helping for the day, and got started right away. Red and Orange were told to team up and clear out a room full of random stuff. From refrigerators to heavy ornaments, and shelves to take apart and put back together in a new garage space, our teams worked fast and efficiently. After struggling with putting shelves together and clearing spaces, we took a break and went out in a park to eat lunch. After lunch, we went to a creek where we rock hopped. After the hour break, we went back to keep plugging along. (Maggie had to help unclog a clogged toilet and successfully did it by remembering what her dad had taught her.) When we were ready to stop fixing shelves, and organizing Christmas decorations, the blue team and purple team came back from painting, and helped us pick ourselves up to finish strong. After finishing our organizing, and looking at before and after pictures, we all went into the kitchen to grab a snack. We hung out and played lots of cards (mostly capitalism). After eating a delicious dinner, which consisted of pizza casserole, a salad, veggies, and rolls, we headed to the rope swing at the local swimming hole. The water at the rope swing was FREEZING. Reid was the first one to do the rope swing and do it “correctly.” After many people going on the rope swing many times, we were all ready to go home and take a warm shower. After showering and playing a little more cards, we grabbed cake, and learned about our team challenge. Our team challenge was a team poster. With Maggie as our bubble letter writer, Drew as our artist, Alice as our bolding lines, and Reid and Scotty as our brainstormers and moral support! We finished in the time we were given and we presented all of our posters. We are all ready for bed, and ready for a new day of working tomorrow.
